Hurricane Melissa has left Jamaica reeling. The western parishes, St. Elizabeth, Westmoreland, St. James, and Hanover, have suffered catastrophic destruction. Homes have collapsed, farms, homes and schools are gone and the much of these areas are without power, leaving thousands of families to face each day with nothing but loss.
This is a moment that calls for global compassion and UFOH is asking.
Why UFOH Is Asking for Your Help
The United Friends of Highgate (UFOH)—a 100% volunteer-run, 501(c)(3) nonprofit, has spent years serving the less fortunate in Highgate, St. Mary. Our commitment has earned the respect of leaders in Jamaica and the U.S., including Governor General Sir Patrick L. Allen.
Today, our mission extends beyond Highgate. Jamaica needs immediate relief, and we are stepping forward. To ensure every contribution goes where it is needed most, UFOH has partnered with the American Friends of Jamaica (AFJ). The AFJ Board of Directors established a US$1 million matching fund to double the impact of all donations made through the organization’s official channels.
