THE UNITED FRIENDS OF HIGHGATE: Together We Make a Difference

We are on a mission; Help!

We are an all-volunteer, 501 (C) 3 non-profit organization on a mission to help the less-fortunate in Highgate, Jamaica, where many of us once lived. At the same time South Florida, a community with an assemblage of homeless people craving help, has pulled on our hearts, demanding our compassion and assistance.

We are acclaimed as a focused, committed and accomplished organization by many leading South Florida officials as well as several Jamaican leaders such as the highest ranking official of Jamaica, His Excellency, The Most Honourable Sir Patrick L. Allen, Governor General.
Our less fortunate need us; our homeless need us. Please help us care for our needy brothers and sisters.

Healthcare

In January 2007 work began on what was called a “type three health clinic” in Highgate which was built to replace the old clinic that could no longer adequately meet the needs of citizens.Read More »

OUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Health Care

Some of the funds we obtain were used to purchase products such as medicine, medical supplies and equipment.

Education

Education is a critical step towards economic development and we provide scholarships for needy children who have the ability and desire to attend school.

Social Welfare

We launched our social welfare program by providing food for needy individuals in Highgate with food vouchers for 50 families.

Economic Development

We provided financial support to students attending the School of Beauty where students receive on the job training, graduate and obtain jobs.

Community Involvement

We have partnered with local groups and social organizations such as the Health Center, Schools and Lions Club to engage the community.

Future Strategy

It is our belief that our mission is a constant work-in-progress and that all accomplishments are the first steps toward our ten-year plan.
